The DRg multiplex, London's third
digital multiplex launches with 10 stations:
- Acabradabra
- The Arrow
- Choice
- Liquid
- Passion for London (station
opens July 2002)
- Purple Radio
- Ritz
- SBN London
- The Storm
- TAP
Channels
and multiplexes
- A channel
is a block of frequencies on VHF band III. There are seven channels
altogether: 11B, 11C, 11D, 12A, 12B, 12C and 12D.
The following channels are available to Londoners:
- Channel 11B - the third
independent Greater London licence (DRg, Digital Radio
Group)
- Channel 11D (221.1 MHz)
- INR National (Digital One)
- Channel 12A (223.936
MHz) - the second independent Greater London licence (Switch Digital)
- Channel 12B (225.648
MHz) - BBC National
- Channel 12C (227.360
MHz) - the first independent Greater London licence (CE Digital)
- A multiplex
can carry a bundle of stations (up to 6-10 approx) and is
licensed to broadcast on one channel. (Each channel
carries a single multiplex.):
- The BBC
has its own national multiplex on Channel 12B
- Digital One
is the national multiplex, broadcasts on Channel 11D
in England and Wales (12A in Scotland)
- CE Digital
is the first local multiplex for Greater London,
broadcasting on Channel
12C
- Switch Digital,
the second local multiplex for Greater London, broadcasts on Channel 12A
- DRg,
the third local multiplex for Greater London, began
broadcasting on Channel 11B in 25 January 2002.
