| Commercial
radio In the UK all independent
radio services are licensed and regulated by The
Radio Authority. Local licences are advertised in an open competition,
and are awarded for a period of 8 years.
Each commercial radio station's licence includes a programme
'format' which describes the essential character and direction of the station and its
target audience. Where appropriate, the format includes a clear musical expectation
and obligation to broadcast local content.
For more details, see The Radio Authority's codes and guidance. |
