The Radio Authority
grants short-term Restricted Service Licences - or RSLs - on FM and AM for a wide range of
reasons, for example for coverage of a local event or other special project, such as
training, or as a trial in preparation for applying for a local licence.
Short-term RSLs
are granted for up to 28 days and for a limited coverage area (typically, coverage of a
town or part of a city). They are issued on a 'first come, first served' basis at
the discretion of the Authority, and subject to frequency availability.
Long-term RSLs
are granted to serve a particular non-commercial establishment such as a hospital or
university campus. They are issued on demand, subject to various legal and
technical criteria and frequency availability, for a maximum period of 5 years.

all listed RSLs will actually broadcast, for a variety of reasons.
